Theta Healing Arts Psychotherapy/Creative Arts
Yamille Mason, MA, LCAT
I understand how difficult it can feel to start therapy and embark on a path to deeper understanding of yourself and potentially changing destructive behaviors. You don’t need to do it alone. I believe strongly in the power of a therapeutic relationship to foster change. I view treatment as a collaborative process where we work together to understand and revise patterns that can cause distress in your life. As a Creative Art Therapist my approach may integrate the creative process (role-play, creative writing, art, the use of music) along with talking. I am an engaged, active therapist who provides a balance of warmth and clinical experience, humor when appropriate, and the ability to help people look at troubling behavior patterns without judgment.
I am a NYS licensed Creative Art Therapist who provides individual and group psychotherapy to children, adolescents and adults. I have worked in a wide variety of settings – inpatient and outpatient mental health, substance abuse halfway homes, day treatment centers, and schools for at-risk youth with behavioral challenges. I specialize in working with addiction issues. My approach also works well with people struggling with depression, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, life transitions, identity issues, and parenting difficulties.
I earned a BFA from Syracuse University and an MA in Drama Therapy from New York University. I have advanced post graduate Psychoanalytic training from National Institute for the Psychotherapies and the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy.
